Hebrews 5:9
“…having been made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him.”

“The cross exposes forever the scene of our crime.” – Richard Rohr

Redemption is about perfection, not the perfection that we can muster when we try to have the perfect tennis serve, the perfect vacation or the perfect meal.

This perfection is unobtainable to any human being. It is the perfection that only God can offer. We who have been sinners—merciless, lost, rebellious sinners—are allowed to leave the scene of the crime unscathed and, lo and behold: perfect.

We walk the road to redemption as perfect before God only because of what Christ did on the cross: becoming the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him.

Reflecting on your life for the past few weeks, what exposure does the cross bring to your words and deeds? Are you trying to be perfect on your own, or are you relying on the work of the cross to give you strength?

Ask for the Holy Spirit to give you the strength to continue walking in obedience.
