Psalm 105.4-5

Seek the Lord and his strength!
Seek his presence continually!
Remember the wondrous works that he has done,
his miracles, and the judgments he uttered.

“Do not be discouraged by the resistance you will encounter from your human nature; you must go against your human inclinations. Often, in the beginning, you will think that you are wasting time, but you must go on, be determined and persevere in it until death, despite all the difficulties.” – Brother Lawrence

Part of learning to deny oneself is to learn how to step into a more abundant life. God is not calling us into a life of austerity but a life of abundance! But what does that look like?

One of the ways we can practice stepping into the abundance of God is through being in his presence continually. The more we are in God’s presence the easier it is to deny our own selfishness. People enter God’s presence in different ways: helping others, praying, silence, singing, writing, being in nature. Whatever way you come into God’s presence, chose to spend some time communing with the Holy Spirit in the next few days. And when you do, follow the pattern of this psalm and remember what God has done in your life.
