Week 6 : Cultivating God’s Compassion

Call to Prayer
God’s desire is for all of humanity to have an intimate relationship with Him. We are able to know God through his Son, Jesus Christ. We engage in a relationship with God through studying the Scriptures and allowing the Holy Spirit to reveal God’s love, truth and compassion, which are found in Christ Jesus.
Spend a few moments in prayer and silence preparing your heart to receive from the Holy Spirit.

Praise the Lord!
Yes, give praise, O servants of the Lord.
Praise the name of the Lord!
Blessed be the name of the Lord
now and forever.
Everywhere—from east to west—
praise the name of the Lord.

Who can be compared with the Lord our God,
who is enthroned on high?
He stoops to look down

He lifts the poor from the dust

Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.
Time of Reflection
Thank God that he lifts the poor from the dust and the needy from the garbage dump. Ask that he would give you the compassion to serve those in need.
Reflect on the conversations you have had over the past few days. Have they been gracious and attractive? Ask Christ to give you his compassion, so that you can have welcoming conversations with all you meet.

Community Prayer
Lord, forgive us if we’ve had a judgmental attitude against anyone, especially those who do not share our faith. Help us to remember that it is your grace that restores us and not our own doing. Challenge us to live a life fully integrated with everyone in the community no matter what background.
