Ephesians 2:10
For we are what he has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life.

“The grace of God means something like: Here is your life. You might never have been, but you are because the party wouldn’t have been complete without you.” ― Frederick Buechner

Why are we here? Art, science, religion, literature, music: all of these fields try in some way to tackle the problem of existence? Why are we here?

The Apostle Paul writes in his letter to the Ephesians that we were made—created in Christ Jesus—for good works. Adding on, these works are supposed to be our way of life.

That is Christianity in a nutshell. We are here because God made us to do good works. To make things better. To do his will and find freedom in serving the God we love.

Is your life full of ways you are making things better? Spend a few moments reflecting on what type of work characterizes your life. Is it selfish work? Selfless work? Prideful work? Greedy work? Lazy work? Loving work? Creative work?

Pray that God would be present in your tasks today and in the coming week.
