lent2014-day35As we enter Holy Week, we will be reflecting on the journey from Jesus’ triumphal entry to his death and burial. Before reading the reflection below, spend a minute or two asking the Holy Spirit to open your soul to worship and meditate on Christ’s journey to the cross.

Read (from Exodus 12, The Message)

Long ago, centuries before now, centuries before even Christ was born, God told Moses to do something. When Moses heard these words, he passed them on to the elders of Israel.

Moses said, “Select a lamb for your families and slaughter the Passover lamb. Take a bunch of hyssop and dip it in the bowl of the lamb’s blood and smear it on the lintel and on the two doorposts. No one is to leave the house until morning. God will pass through to strike Egypt down. When he sees the blood on the lintel and the two doorposts, God will pass over the doorway; he won’t let the Death enter your house to strike you down.

Keep this word. It’s the law for you and your children, forever. When your children say to you, ‘Why are we doing this?’ tell them: ‘It’s the Passover-sacrifice to God.’”

The people bowed and worshiped.

Pray

Take a few moments to pray that God would cultivate a worshipful heart within you, attune to the power and calling of the Holy Spirit.
